LEON RUSSELL: A POEM IS A NAKED PERSON
ROCK TUESDAY | 1H 29M | NOT RATED | 1974
AUG 11
An ineffable mix of unbridled joy and vérité realism, A Poem Is a Naked Personpresents the beloved singer-songwriter and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Leon Russell as filmed by documentarian Les Blank between 1972 and 1974. Blank’s camera lets us into the world of Russell and his friends and fellow artists in and around his recording studio in northeast Oklahoma, capturing intimate, off-the-cuff moments and combining them with mesmerizing scenes of Russell and his band performing live. This singular film about an artist and his community never got an official theatrical release and has attained legendary status. Now, after more than forty years, it can finally be seen and heard in all its rough beauty. Blank's son, Harrod Blank (who was a child when the movie was filmed), spent years working on the clearances before it was shown publicly in 2015.

REVIVING OUR RIVER
SPECIAL SCREENING | 2026
AUG 19
Join us for a FREE community screening hosted by WEP and Friends of the Upper San Juan River.
The Pagosa Gateway Project is the story of an ambitious river restoration effort by the Upper San Juan Watershed Enhancement Partnership (WEP) and the extraordinary challenges that nearly changed everything.

Follow the journey behind a $1.5 million effort to restore nearly two miles of the San Juan River, where 18 landowners, local, state, and federal partners came together to improve stream connectivity, restore aquatic and riparian habitat, protect streambanks, enhance recreation, and build resilience against drought, flooding, and wildfire. Partway through construction, historic floodwaters transformed the river overnight, forcing the team to rethink, redesign, and adapt in real time.
This inspiring short documentary offers a behind-the-scenes look at the power of collaboration, resilience, and innovation as a community works together to protect and restore one of Pagosa Springs' greatest natural treasures.

A few factors we have to consider when choosing a movie:
We can request films we would like to show, but we don't always get what we want.
-
Because we are a one screen theatre, this can sometimes limit what we can show in conjunction with the first run of a film. We sometimes can only show that one movie and are unable to have two movies running in the same week. This being restricted by the movie studios we contract with for the films.
-
Runtime of the movie we show makes an impact on whether or not we can show one or two movies in a week.
-
Sometimes due to a limited # of theaters some movies can run at, we are mostly likely the last on the list to receive a movie, meaning we have to wait a bit longer for a select few movies.
Please understand our intention is to provide a larger variety of movies for all ages. If you have any suggestions or ideas please don't hesitate to contact us.
