GUS PALMA
You may have seen Gustavo (Gus) Palma, performing in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for Curtains Up Pagosa, or All is Calm at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts, or in “Dancing with the Pagosa Stars”, or maybe, digging things up in your backyard for a landscaping project? This guy is EVERYWHERE! Gustavo has been performing from Santa Fe, NM, to Durango, CO, and even New York City! He is a small town man with big dreams and he is very thankful to have such a wonderfully supportive community to call home. He says, “Thank you all for coming and I hope you enjoy the Magic we’ve prepared for you this evening!”
BOB HEMENGER
"Whether he is playing Red Rocks with Darrell Scott, on tour with Victor Wooten, sitting in with The Zac Brown Band or playing the local coffee shop, Bob Hemenger puts his heart and soul into every note. A saxophonist/vocalist based out of Pagosa Springs, Colorado for the past 32 years, Bob is known for his natural ability to move an audience, a big phat sax tone, deep baritone voice and just letting the music take over. He is also a passionate; dad, educator, naturalist, radio show host, retreat facilitator and emcee of the Telluride Jazz Festival."
CANDACE SHAPIRO
Candace Shapiro is an accomplished dance professional and the owner of Studio SoCo, opening in 2025 as a hub for dance and creative movement. Trained in ballet, jazz, lyrical, tap, and contemporary, Candace holds a B.A. in Communication with a minor in Dance from Southwestern University and a M.A. in Communication from Texas State University, specializing in instructional design.
After moving to Pagosa Springs in 2023, Candace saw the need for a welcoming space for dance and aerial arts. Studio SoCo will offer classes for all ages, aiming to build confidence, creativity, and community. Known for inspiring her students, Candace believes in fostering self-expression and personal growth in a supportive and inclusive environment.
JESSE SHAVEL
Jesse Shavel is a professional performing artist with over 20 years of juggling experience. He has toured extensively on cruise ships in Europe and performed as a specialty circus act in traveling ice shows across the United States. Specializing in object manipulation and balancing acts, Jesse now combines circus skills with musical performance as a one-man band and one-man circus show. He lives in Pagosa Springs with his wife, Adrienne Young—an accomplished aerial artist, costume designer, and burlesque performer, and their two sons, including a newborn baby they welcomed into the world this past October!
DYLAN BISHOP
Dylan Bishop came up in the D/FW blues scene, learning from greats like Hash Brown, Wes Race and Sumter Bruton while still in high school. He quickly developed a unique style of guitar playing and singing, rooted firmly in his understanding and ear for the subtleties of the genre. After a three years stint in je'Texas, his psychedelic blues band, he shed the group to travel alone and play his songs all over the world in the style of his heroes (Son House, Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly and Jimmie Rodgers).
In recent months, he’s produced a prolific output of material that puts a fresh perspective on the folk traditionthat he holds so near to his heart. His soulful sincerity speaks for itself when you hear him perform.
